Dlarah Swedish Vallhunds - Västgötaspets - Länsigöötanmaanpystykorvat

Legacy of the Vikings

Swedish Vallhunds are indigenous to Sweden and said to be the ancestors of the Corgi. Vallhunds are an all purpose farm dog, primaly used for herding cattle and vermin control. They are muscular, energy filled with delightful personalities. Their colouring is most often grey sable or red sable with specific harness markings and facial masks. Vallhunds almost became extinct but were saved by two Swedish men in 1940. From a group of 5 females and 1 male the breed was restored and gained Swedish Kennel Club recognition in 1948.

Swedish Vallhunds were first introduced to Australia in 1981.
